146 2.0 ti problems

Hi all, this is my first post on here so be gentle !!

i have a '98 146 and have a couple of problems, it was running rough for the first 30 seconds in the morning so i took off the plug caps to take the plugs out and discovered some of the plug holes had water in them and the 2 holes furthest to the right were full of oil.....

Any idea's on how either got there?

Also the injector light came on tonight for the first time, need to get it on a diagnostic machine to find out why i guess?

Anyone know anyone near high wycombe with a laptop with the diagnostic tool that could help?

thanks....

Clean and dry the plug wells and add some high temp. contact copper paste to the plugs before reinserting them. That should help with misfiring issues.
The water presence tends to happen when you do short trips during the cold season.

As for the injector light, diagnostic equipment is a good start. You can also get it yourself to use on a laptop.

the chances are the oil is from a leaking rocker gasket, easy enough to replace, and the misfire is probably a faulty coil pack, made so by the oil or water in the plug well, again easy to swap and plentiful on ebay.

The plugs may also need changing if they had got rusty.
