Baby seat in 145?

Is there anyone who has tried fitting the baby seat in the back of the 145 JTD? Of course, there is no ISOFIX, but there must be a seat that fits in the old way...

Does anyone knows the certain brand and the type of the seat?
Any info appreciated.

Thanks,

I have a Maxi Cosi Tobi for my daughter (9months to 4 years I think the seat fits) and couldn't recommend it highly enough...very safe and fits perfect...and is a doddle to fit in the first place, it's been designed really logically

If you go to Mothercare, choose a seat they will try it in the car for you. If it doesn't fit they won't let you buy it.

You haven't said what type of seat you're trying to fit in. Is it a proper baby seat (i.e. the rear facing ones) or a child seat (the forward facing ones)?

Babies under 9 (and under 9kgs) months old must only be put in a rear facing seat because their necks aren't strong enough to survive forward facing whip-lash in the event of a head-on crash. You will have problems getting one of these seats in the back of a 145 because the seat belt isn't long enough to go around the back of the baby seat (and no, seatbelt extensions will be of no use). Because of this, we have to put our rear facing baby seat on the front passenger seat where the belt is plenty long enough. The only caveat to this though is that you will have to remove the passenger airbag if you have one (like I did) because if the airbog goes off it will crush the baby seat.

If you are talking about a baby over 9 months (and over 9kgs) and a forward facing seat then the other members replies offer some good advice. Any seat that can be strapped in using a 3-point seatbelt (look at the specifications of the seat) should fit fine as the belt doesn't have to stretch as far as it does with the rear facing seats.

HTH

as giallo said above, but if you are looking at a rear facing seat, what we ended up doing is getting a maxicosi cabriofix (non isofix) and buying the extra 'easyfix' base. this straps in using the seatbelt, and has a leg on the front to stop anything tipping forward. the baby seat itself then clicks into this base. it means that the seatbelt doesn't need to go so far, so it SHOULD fit (but you will need to check this, i used it in the back of a GTV with no probs) and it also makes getting the car seat in and out a hell of a lot easier for the missus

hope it helps

You're right, the talk is about front facing seats, thanks.

By the way, awesome 145, GialloEvo!

The MaxiCosi Tobi was their "flagship" standard fit car seat at the time I bought it, the Priori is the top of the range ISOFIX seat...I went for the Tobi because the 5 point harness looked a lot more comfortable and easier to use for the (now ex) missus, and it's far easier to fit in the car than the Priori was...both are excellent car seats though and both should fit absolutely fine in a 145.

And my daughter absolutely loves it cos she sits nice and high up (the Tobi has an elevated base) and "I see all cows and sheep" (her words lol) out of the windows!

In my case, it will be ''I see all cars, trams and trolleys'', except the rare weekends that give us the chance to run out of the crowded and smokey city!
