Re: High rpm

Update: Car is now on axle stands ready for belts, when moving the car into the garden i noticed the idle was fluctuating, remember that i need a t/stat and variator but can’t see why both of these would cause that. I am wondering if it is an early warning for another part needing replaced.

I dont think it is the lambda as the car did not reach to the right temp and has only happened a few times on a cold start up, i am thinking it may be to do with the overfueling any ideas guys

Re: High rpm

Fluctuating revs at idle is usually caused by one of the following:-
  • Leak in the air intake pipes
  • Dirty Throttle Body
  • Faulty MAF
  • Faulty Idle Stepper Motor

Re: High rpm

Don't worry Andy, the mods are onto the song link crap,

The Idle we should look at after the t'stat is done, it could just be some dodgy fuel going through as the car was sat for a while (I think you said?), shame I'm down south ATM but if anyone in the Taunton (weekends) or Wolverhampton/Telford (weekdays) areas needs a laptop hook up, give me a shout and I'll see if I can squeeze it into an evening (phone number would help).
