Help info/manuals/power steering

hi all newbie here - i got me a 145 from inlaws as a 2nd car and i have a couple of questions

1. on top of power steering reservoir the cap has a hose connection on it - should this be connected or is it a breather of sorts?

2. seems fairly basic interior fit wise are there upgrades available ie armrests, cup holders etc from diff models that i could get

3. does anyone have any soft copy literature either brochures for parts or servicing info etc that i could get a copy of?

thanks for your time peeps
Andy

Re: info/manuals/power steering

  1. It's a breather / overflow pipe and shouldn't be connected to anything.
  2. Don't know as it's not something I'm really interested in doing to mine although I do know of someone who fitted a 156 arm rest between the front seats however it did require a bit of customisation to make it fit.
  3. For the owner handbook (assuming you didn't get a hard copy with the car) then a PDF version can be obtained from HERE. For PDF copies of the official Alfa workshop manuals, look HERE.

Re: info/manuals/power steering

There was only 2 real differences in the interior over the years apart from the trim, that being air vents in the rear of the center console and the addition of a passengers side airbag, that really was it, quite basic but you never buy an Alfa for it's luxuries.

Hi Reddeath, you mention your reservoir cap has a breather on top? Do you have a picture of this? Its just that mine does not, and could definatly do with one as the system keeps blowing pipes under too much pressure. cheers

The attached picture shows the (red) cap in question. The cap has a connector on it to which a pipe attaches. The other end of the pipe clips onto the body of the reservoir thus directing any excess fluid into the gutter around the edge. It's a standard Alfa part on the 145 / 146 so it sounds like someone has changed yours for a different one (???)

The Alfa part number is 60654683 and it's ~£4

What a great avatar ... do you think they'd allow that one on here?
