Tyres

Hi Everyone,
This is my 1st message as a new member. I hope I have a long and wonderfull relationship with you all!
I have a 147 JTD16v and have just replaced the front tyres with 17inch Goodyear F1's. I am getting a noise from the front end which sounds very much like a worn wheel bearing noise. My local Alfa dealer reckons it is the tyres 'blocking' or 'stepping' on the inside. He showed me the uneven wear on the inside tread up on the lift. The tyre company I bought them off has had the same problem with other customers and he reckoned it was a problem on 17inch tyres. They have returned tyres to Goodyear as a fault but they say it is the car, not the tyres
Has anybody else experienced this and can you recommend a tyre to replace them with? The car came with Bridgestone Potenza.

Re: Tyres

Kuhmo Ecsta KU31. I know they aren't that expensive, but I have had nothing but good grip and decent wear out of them. My mate uses them on his 330D and previously used them on his Rover and found them excellent on both cars as well. I've never heard a bad word said.

Re: Tyres

hey! I'm using Pirelli Pzero assimetricos and they've worn that way too, I just live with it. Most cars running low profile wide wheels wear in the same way, nothing I can do.

Welcome too!

Re: Tyres

Which model of F1 tyres are they? The GSD3 version are pretty quiet, but the Original F1 and GSD2 are a very noisy tyre due to their tread pattern.

Re: Tyres

If the inside edge of the tyre wearing is due to a camber change from larger wheels or aftermarket suspension kits then Eibach make camber adjustment kits for Alfas which might help.
