No Garage wants to work on my Alfa!!!

hi all,

I've just bought a used Power Steering Pump to go on my 146 T-spark and my mobile mechanic who said will do the job has vanished from the face of the earth, so I've been to 4 local garages and none of them can find the job on their mechanics software to see how long it would take, so now they cant' quote me for the job so they're not up for it.

I'm desperate, my current pump is so noisy....people are starting to laugh...one guy said my car sounded like a mobility scooter!

I'm in Berkshire.....anyone got any ideas please?

Can't find book time for a 145/6 either.
On a 156 it is down as 2.5 hours though.

Where in Berkshire are you?
Would you travel into Hampshire?
AHM in Hartley Wintney?

What about Auto Integrale in Aldermaston

http://www.auto-integrale.co.uk/index.htm

They are highly recommended on the Fiat coupe forum for anything italian.

Re: No Garage wants to work on my Alfa!!!

Do it yourself, it's a simple procedure....

1: Loosen off Alternator tensioner and remove Aux belt.

2: Loosen the mounting bolts for the PS pump.

3: disconnect the 2 lines to the PS pump. (Disconect the one from the reservoir first and have a bowl ready to catch the fluid)

4: Remove the pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.

5: Sit the new pump in place and fit the mounting bolts.

6: Fit the 2 lines to the pump.

7: fit the Aux belt back on and tension up the Alternator again.

8: Bleed the PS and top up level.

Done. 1 hour tops, 295 QUID, I'd do 6 of em for that.

He obviously doesn't want the job. He should have said so. I won't recommend him again.

Re: No Garage wants to work on my Alfa!!!

I think that is a realistic quote.... If he was supplying the parts.

If you are still wanting someone to do the job for you there is another option which is L&M International in High Wycombe. We have had work done there and found them very knowledgable & helpful.

L&M International - The Italian car specialists
