Hi Dave

The 95/96 2.0 155's with 16" (not 15") black speedlines came with the optional "sportspack" which also included colour coded side skirts and a wrap around boot spoiler.

'94 cars, 1.8 (not 2.0) engine with a slightly higher tuning were called "silverstone" but dont think they had the black wheels.

Guess he's talking about the sportspack models, a good condition low mileage example would be about £3k, possibly more as they are fairly rare.

In addition to the features outlined the Sport Pack 155s also had sports suspension which is slightly lower and stiffer than standard. This pack was only available on late 95 on wide body cars. Some narrow body cars have been upgraded with black alloys and wrapa-around spoiler. Also be aware that some very early 1.8 wide body cars had the 8V engine and some early 2.0s had the slow rack steering

Silverstones were nothing but a marketing exercise - they were standard narrow body 1.8 8Vs with deep front spoiler/adjustable splitter and rear spoiler with a bag of bits in the boot to raise the height of rear spoiler. They had 15" pepperpot alloys. They have no premium in the marketplace.

A low mileage 1996/7 2.0 with Sport Pack is worth up to £4,000, they command a Premium of up to £750 over a standard car.

Never heard of the stiffer suspension on sportspack cars, If you are referring to the super being 15mm higher then I see what you mean but most 155's are therefore lower. Supers are rarer.

I'm told the 1.8 silverstone had a slightly more powerful engine (9bhp) than other 8v 1.8's.

1995/96 was a strange time for the 155's with a lot of confusion with the engines, body and steering as you say. There was a thread on 155.com and we never sorted it!!! For example, my V6 is a 95N widebody without the quick rack, Oh forgot to say the V6's throw it all out again!!!

Also some were fitted with spacers to the wheels........but we wont go into that......

cheers guys, but this sounds like a very confucing time for 155 owners! I've never come across so many minor tweaks in such a short time span.Must be easy to get confused if you are a sh buyer.I am passing it all on to the guy who is interested in buying one,so please keep it coming.

To my knowledge no V6s had a quick rack. I am 100% certain that Silverstone was no more powerful than standard 1.8. Yes the Super is higher and softer than standard but I do believe that Sport Pack cars had stiffer springs than standard cars - I'm sure they are a listed part - but could be wrong.

The Super also featured velour upholstery, wood wheel.shift, blue athermic glass and the old style wheels with polished rim - many were fit with a/c.

Aaarrgh, I'm gettin all confused again

If you check the alfa155.com site and look on the "technical specifications" page it lists the silverstone as 9bhp higher, some owners on there have said the same too??

Not aware fo the stiffer sportspack springs so I'll check that out.

Not sure about the V6 and quickrack, some say they were narrowbody cars with widebody body added...........aaargh!

Now you know why we gave up trying to sort it on 155.com

I give up!

Just my two penneth.. I've got a '94 silverstone & was under the impression it has slightly higher power output (cams?) combined with a lower dry weight which gave it the same performance as the 2.0 8v

The Super version was no higher than the initial 155 2.0 16v that emerged in '95. The "S" version sat 15 mm lower. As far as i know the "S" option was possible on all gasoline version except the 1.6 16v. For all I know, the fast steering rack was not available on the V6.

Cheers

Yes the S (Sport) pack is 15mm lower, Super was no higher but softer. Silverstone is definitely same power as ordinary car - I should know I sold 'em when they were new!!!

My CAP ID book says the Silverstone had 129 BHP same as standard 1.8.
Also think the V6 never had the quickrack.
I think some of the confusion over S,Sport,Super,Sportpack versions is down to variations in european countries.
The 1995 revisions included stiffer suspension/lower ride height so the standard car is sometimes refered to as 'sport'.The Sportpack was just a additinal option (16" black/dark grey alloys, boot spoiler, colour coded side skirts). The Super had different ride height/ wood interior.

Rapallo, SGG, my v6 's 2.1 rack is pretty quick - seems a unique car tho' from what everyone else has posted.

And it's for sale.

sorry to butt in guys but i was under the impression that the siverstone was more powerful somthing to do with the touring car championship, alfa threw out the silverstones to meet certain regulations in the btcc when tarquini won! (aaaah those were the days!)
This might be crap but thats what ive heard.

Hi all,

If I may settle this one regarding the Silverstone It has the following:

129 BHP 1.8 Litre engine
ABS
Leather Steering wheel and Knob
Pepperpot 15" Alloys were standard on 205/50VR tyres
Specially developed front and rear spoilers
Only available in Black or the classic red
Suspension was the same as normal car!

How do I know this is 100 % Accurate?

As I have the exclusive Silverstone sales brochure in front of me as I write and I'm reading the sales jargon as I go!!! I think Rapello was correct don't know about this 9 bhp gain but it is a myth!!!

Warm regards

MAK

From memory ('94 - I was there!) the Silverstone just homologated the aero kit.

the silverstone model also caused a bit of a stir cos the most important part of the rear wing was in the boot when collected (the spacers for the increased rear spoiler height)

Re: 155 question from another bbs

Hi all,

I have a silverstone model that has been extensively modified for the Scottish Hillclimb Championship, can anybody tell me where I can obtain a set of the spacers for the increased rear spoiler height.....or at the very least an idea of the dimentions so I can have them replicated. Any help would be very appreciated.
