Cracking up

Hi,

I know squeaks and rattles go with the territory here, but the cacophony inside my 155 is really starting to get to me. I have various rattles from the dash, roof and doors. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of these? I've tried spraying PTFE inside all the cracks in the trim and experimenting with little bits of foam.

There is one noise in particlar that is driving me insane because it seems to originate from right next to my ear. It's a loud clicking noise from the door that happens when I go on off the accelerator (and now also over bumps). I had the same problem with my Tipo before I sold it so I guess it must be due to the smiliar hinge or lock mechanism. A friend sugegsted it might be the pin in the hinge, but I don't see how this explains it.

Please don't anyone tell me to crank up the stereo because I bought the car because of its sweet sounding engine.

We have a similar noise in our Spider which 3 dealer visits have still not rectified completely.Last visit to the dealer gave some improvement though by liberal greasing of door hinges and application of sound deadening pads to the inside of the door.I am still convinced that the door check strap is the cause.Good luck!Ps you can get sound deadening pads (3M or similar) at a good car paint/refinishing factor.Try a branch of Brown Brothers.

I too have a 97 155, albeit a 1.8, with the same noise. It seems to abate when I press and hold down the door pin surround. My 155 was fine noise-wise until I introduced some subwoofers, therefore I don't feel that I can moan at all as the noises are self-inflicted. Good luck with sorting the problem.

I had the problem of noise from my drivers door. I solve this by wrapping some Electical tape around the locking pin to make a tighter fit. & it worked, but the first 20 times opeing the door it was stiff,
but it then free's up.
Try it, nothing ventured......

Also I used Blu-Tak in between panel gap to stop panels hitting each other

i have the same problem. initially my mechanic tot wuz some loose mechanism with the suspension. they dismantled and rebuilt but the noise stays [img]smilies/cwm40.gif[/img] i susupect is the door hinge but my cracking sound can be felt when u put yr feet down on the floorboard. damn irritating adn is driving me insane... still trying to locate the gremlin [img]smilies/cwm14.gif[/img] will find out this weekend when i send my 145 in again.... mine is at the passenger side. like u said on and off the accelerator or when i just about to go up a slope.
