Bah! annoyed with AF.
ooh thats just annoyed the hell out of me. Adrian Flux sent a quote out to me in the post after emailing me a quote on TPFT for £432.45, but the written quote had the car wrong, the reg wrong, and i was told by the advisor i spoke to that my accident details weren't recorded correctly. after getting the details right, my quote has gone up to £760-something for TPFT or £1230 for comp cover.
that has really wound me up. i now have to ring round other companies-again-to get quotes, after most have said they couldnt compete with £432.
waste of a day's phoning yesterday.

Hi there.
Do you have a reference in order for the matter to be looked into?
Cheers,
Phil

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
oh, as a further point, is it also true with AF that you dont offer a reduced premuim once a driver turns 25?

Definitely not mid-term. However, some schemes may bracket the rates at 25 so you would be entitled to further discounts on a policy that is taken up at that age.

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
ok, pigfarmer, more than wouldnt give me an online quote for a standard car, doubt i can get one for modified....was hoping i wouldnt have to ring around. all the details were given correctly at the time of the online quote with AF, how did they manage to get it so wrong?

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
Churchill guarantee to beat any quote ... by a penny, is it really worth it? I wasted 50p on a phonecall finding that out! Privilege have come out cheapest for years and no-one can get close for me. Direct Line got within £20 but their no price match policy did them out of a sale this year.
Best to ring round and going direct has always worked out cheaper than any of these price comparison websites, they all came out over £100 more than I'm paying, all these comparison sites area a waste of time IMO

More Than give me a good price (age 33 with a (cough cough) standard car) ... confused.com is a good place to start, but I'm not sure how well they handle modifications ...

My best price was with Swiftcover too.
For modded cars, it's well worth getting a quote from HIC - www.hertsinsurance.com

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
Comparison sites earn their keep via commission paid by the company they refer you to, so logically at best they'll be the same cost as going to that company directly.
Also comparison sites may not even send you to the cheapest site.. they work on commission so they wants you to go to the company that gives them the biggest bung.
Go direct to the usual suspects sites.

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
I've just covered my 75 with AF. I'm very happy with the £250 premuim.
I would have got my 156 covered with AF as well, but because my wife had the 155 covered in her name, and my cars were through the business, Admiral offered me a goodwill NCD.
Kind of annoying that I've lost my NCD because of business cover. Never claimed for more than a windscreen in 18 years.

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
true most comparison sites do rip you off via commission etc but confused dosent work on commission they just get paid a standard advertising rate regardless of hits therefore not affecting the quote you get, try it yourself, get a quote from confussed then get a quote direct from insurer and they will be the same
just saves loads of time getting quotes when you can loads in one go, by all means still get quotes from the ones confussed dont check for you but it will save you time even if it dosent give you the best quote you can rule them out

Re: Bah! annoyed with AF.
Strange then how I was looking for a decent sized bike, the confused link didn't send me to the cheapest. Cheapest advertised was £336, yet it linked to £474. Perhaps people should have their witts about them when using these sites.
I prefer not to use them, as they tend to just go for the easy mainstream non-modded vehicles. Like I said earlier, 36 year old, modded 75TS, 2 drivers, both with a speeding conviction with limited mileage comes out with a £250 premium. That's obviously a second vehicle, so NCD is not applicable.
