Hi! as the post says I'm a newbie and have bought an Alfa GTV TS year 1996. I live in Malaysia.
Got the car quite cheap - untrashed but unloved either - driven by a woman (got it as an anniversary present from the husband) who later gave to her daughter.
Had to change cam-belt, clutch, flywheel oil-seal, front lower arms etc and absorbers completely shot - replaced with Konis n Powerflexed at the rear (complete set) - but now car's rear seems to jump (as opposed to absorb) bumps and the ride is quite bumpy - the mechanic reckons the bushes n the absorbers haven't run in yet.
Usual gremlins with the warning lights e.g. key-code light sometimes fail to extinguish. Just day before yesterday, the car died after starting up n refused to start up again - the Injector light wouldn' go off. Called the Tow Truck but luckily, I read on another forum that the AFM could be acting up - so disconnected it and Voila...the car started up immediately - reconnected the AFM n the warning light vanished.
Hv also junked the curved snorkel and box attached to the air-filter and fabricated a stainless steel one - gives a delicious induction roar.
Now, resprayed car 2K solid black ...looks goooooood.
Total costs of makeover about 40% costs of the car.....but it's almost brand new now.
