Hi everybody, anyone out there got any ideas on this one for me please
My 156 2.4 JTD has just developed an annoying habit of the engine dying, but after 5 -10 minutes of waiting, she starts again, goes 5 miles and guess what, she stops, wait again, off i go and then no i dont and so on.
The injector light comes on when the engine dies, but i guess it would anyway as no fuel is being injected in.
TDC sensor (also call RPM or Crank sensor) is also a possible cause.
When they reach their failure point they fail when hot, then work again when they have been allowed to cool.
the crank sensor would not cool after 5- 10 mins, go to your local garage and get them to read the obd, realy does sound like a fuel pessure fault, either way if the light has come on it should have recorded a fault in the ecu memory
Well yes 5 to 10 minutes does seem a bit quick if it's the TDC sensor but maybe the times aren't right.
If the car starts ok when the engine is cold but stops after a while when it heats up and won't start until the engine temp drops etc. then it certainly could be the TDC (aka rpm) sensor
