I have bought a rhd 156 SW and I am going to re-register it in France. As I need to change the headlights to change dip direction, what I would like to ask is, is it difficult to change the headlights? Do I need to take the bumper off to do it?
Yup, it's a nightmare - i've done it once and am about to do it again to register in Germany. I did start a thread about the rear lights but had no response yet - as they need changing too
Thanks for the link looks like a do able but long winded job. I will have to steel myself up to do it. I don't think I am going to need to do anything for rear lights I hope. When I first re registered a car 12 yrs ago you could get away with headlamp converters until one of the headlamps died due to stone damage then fitting the other got lost in insurance claim.
You are fine with a 156 as they have rear fogs on both sides.
147/GT have a rear fog on the driver's side and a reversing light on the passenger side, but registering a RHD 147/GT in a LHD country they are the wrong way round.
Im in a 147, and have been told the reverse and the fog are the wrong way round
I don't know if these can be swapped and they'll work (because the plug will know what kind of light it is), or whether i'll end up with a fog light on when in reverse lol.
Good luck - it's really not that hard, just long winded. I done a side at a time, so like 1of1 say, you should be able to create enough room not to have to drop the whole bumper. It's up to you which method of attack you use.
Perhaps the easiest way is to convert the reversing light to fog light wired to the other fog light and fit a separate reversing light. or get some off eBay somewhere in Europe and then just do a bit of wire extension. I know it is easier said than done.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
