Doesn't make sense to me - read a report somewhere which cast doubt on the transmission loss figures. FWD car is ~20BHP and RWD ~30BHP - No way 4WD is 99 !
That gave an on the road figure of 147BHP. Put that against my other halfs (~220BHP at the wheels) 147GTA and you'd expect the Impreza to lose badly. Well it doesn't - it out excelerates the 147. At the flywheel figure for the Impreza was 246BHP i.e. comparable to the 147.
220bhp at wheels is a lot for a 147 GTA, I had mine Dyno'd on the losses were approx 30%, the more power you have the more your losses will increase in relation to it, but so much affect losses on a rolling road that is not related to your engine output, if your tyre pressure are incorrect this will affect you losses, aligment out the losses will chnage, losses aren't set bhp figure though.
The Impreza wins out easily on a drag because of its superior traction at the start but I often find myself reeling them in afterwards unless they are high powered jap versions or tuned even then I give them a good run
