While I am dreaming.... how much does it generally cost to buy and run a Bertie? (not that I could ever convince my other half that it would be a worthwhile investment.... I can dream, can't I?)
Cheers GC.
The easy bit - road tax is free (cars registered before 1972), insurance is £136 fully comp for 3,000 miles a year. So far so good!
Downside is buying one. They go from under £1,000 for buyer beware projects on Ebay up to £15,000 for concourse restorations, and onwards and upwards to £50,000 for genuine GTA's with history! Most owners are more into enjoying them than being absolute historic purists, so you will find 1300 Juniors with 2000 engines in them and all the rest. Just depends what you want really. Always some for sale at
http://www.classicalfa.com/cars.htm and in the Owners Club
http://www.************/classifieds/. This one came from Gran Turismo Engineering (020 8332 7633), and Simon there could not have been more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking for a 105, but the last time I saw him I had just dropped him off at Brighouse station where the other passengers looked like something from Royston Vasey! Hope he got back OK!
Values do seem to be on the up, so it is a good investment.
