Mine was one week out of warrenty when i had it remapped so i wasnt that bothered in that respect. I understand that when the main dealers check for error codes they can also check for the software version of the ECU if there is any irregularity or there is a dopey technician on hand the software can be over written as a remap company would do. A relative within Alfa has confirmed this possible (just not that likely) he has also test driven my car beyond the point i would dare and he reckons its about as good as any he has driven recently, he is taking delivery of the GT (JTD) soon so i will compare the two. I think comparing remapping to the dark side is a little melodramatic Rick, its a cheap, effective upgrade and afore mentioned Alfa relative sees no problem with the torque/gearbox/transmission as they are engineered far beyond what the specification states. The biggest problems I face are controlling myself in the car, my right foot has doubled in weight and i have extra muscles around my neck. I did not enter the decision lightly but the alternatives were either too expensive or did not yield the same bang per buck. I enjoy the extra power and my wife enjoys the extra economy (driven sensibly) that counts as a resounding sucess in my house!!!!!
