Hi All

I've been following threads in here for a while, particularly 6c & Sud v8, having swapped my GTV for this lovely Sprint, I can now begin to partake of a few interesting threads :)

The car has been racing in the HSCC series by 'banbury' who I've no doubt will drop by to check out what mods are happening :)

Took her out last night at Knockhill and I can tell you I have a huge Grin on my face :D

In fairness my car was in excellent condition when I took over ownership, she originally ran in HSCC by alfaowner user 'banbury'.

The changes being made are in the main to adapt the car for Knockhill Racetrack here in Scotland along with a few choice upgrades too.

I'll see what I can do on the video front, a friend is attending a tracknight with me on the 27th, hopefully we can get some footage, if my sprint is set up properly we may even get some footage of myself and the Sud in our series side by side on the start finish :D

Saturdays visit to see progress was pretty good, no pics I'm afraid for now... The trumpets on the carbs sure look out of place but do add to the traditional flat four rasp :) of all the other jobs only the new starter & fuel pipe repair have been done... pretty hopefull of alot more to come before thursday, failing thet certainly before the next race meet on the 5th/6th Sept... I was hoping for a little drive yesterday, unfortunatly the Sprint was blocked in by a Westfield and a Chimera :(

Spoke to my 'old school' mechanic yesterday... progress is swift :)

The 'Optronic' ignition should arrive with him today, if you are thinking of doing this be sure to check you're distributor cap... on my sprint i'm told it's 'ducellier'... the kit to fit the doo cee took a few extra days to get into stock... all being well I'll be picking her up later today.

So what has been done.... WELL :D

40's fitted and balanced (set up will be done trackside on thursday night)
Facet pump fitted
Brake Bias valve fitted
Rear arches rolled to allow max clearence for the 14' campo's
Gearbox mounts modified (will be interesting to feel the results of this although not sure it will cure the popping out of second)
Fuel tank breather pipe replaced with new
Trumpets fitted to 40's (sounds wonderful)

Oh and what could turn out to be a nice bonus.... A one of fabricated side exiting exhaust, I needed to open up the bore of the pipe from standard, this seemed a good option as my mechanic (Sandy @ Scottish Classic Sports Cars in Perth) had various sections at his disposal... Can't wait to go and collect her now :D if all goes well next weekend's racing should be interesting

Pics and video's hopefully on thursday/friday this week, hoping to get a nice video of my sprint and a friends sud flying up the start finish at Knockhill :D

£63 for the kit on ebay mate.... with potential to mount outside the car and use in other situations when mountain biking :)
Nice improvements on the Racer:thumbs:. I really like the idea of the side exiting exhaust:thumbs:. It could well be worth a few bhp too. I think that we are all eager to see your Veloce in action in the videos. For my part, I would prefer to have the camera inside the car and have a view of the track from the inside. You could also have the camera mounted on the outside but on the car that’s following you:D.

Following on from the last post... My sprint was great in the wet, a friend of mine did take her for a little rally excursion but all was well... the 40's have made a huge difference along with the side exit exhaust (you can probably hear on the video)... the brake bias valve allowed enough adjustment to get a near perfect set up on the night and the campo wheels with the yoko's did an excellent job of keeping her planted on the track.

An all round excellent evening, fingers crossed we have a dry weekend for the next meet on the 5/6th Sept BUT i really don't mind the wet in my little sprint :D:D:D

Good to see the Sprint racing, I so want one. I saw it for sale but I still have my Uno racer and have just bought the ex works Toyota Group N race saloon so can't get another car without a divorce first!!. Its also good to see the red Sud out - I remember that being for sale on "fastroadandtrack" some time ago, I think. Anyone want a well developed Uno racer so that I can scratch my alfa itch again??

BTW, the Alfa series (ARCA) in England is looking at an invitation class for Classic Alfas at selected events for the rest of this year and beyond. The CSCC is also examining ways of increasing the profile of cars from the 70s and early 80s within its Tin Tops and/ or Future Classics series (40 minute races for one or two drivers remember) - ideal for all you Sud and Sprint racers!

How about coming to the CSCCs Snetterton meeting on 17/18 October as well? The Alfetta could race in the Future Classics series and the Sports Vs Saloon Challenge race. FC is a 40 min race with a compulsory pit stop for 1 or 2 drivers and the Sports Vs Challenge race is a 15 or 20 min sprint - loads of track time! If you enter one race at the normal fee, the second race is for just £95.

The CSCC is at Cadwell on 6 Sept, so their are races for Swinging Sixties, Future Classics, Tin Tops and Magnificent Sevens on the same day, so there will be a few Alfas out in all except the last one! Mike and Andrew Jordan are also out with us in Tin Tops - Mike is sharing a Honda Integra DC5 and Andrew is sharing an older Integra DC2 - it will be very interesting to see how the lap times of proper BTCC & GT drivers compars to club racers!

Unfortunately I can't be there. My sister is having a damn Christening for her 2 kids & apparently I am required to be there!

shame you can't make it, damn families  once had to miss my fav rally due to my brother-in-laws wedding
can't they consult us before making these decisions
might still go for a look though, take the sud for a run out ;)

I haven't seem the entry list for Cadwell but there are usually a couple of Suds and a couple of 33s in Tin Tops & a couple of Bertone GTVs in Swinging Sixties. I don't think we have had any Sud Sprints in Furture Classics this year but there were a couple out regularly last year.

2 X 33s (Andy Hancock and Marshall Groves) and a Sud (Richard Drake / Steve Wyatt in Tin Tops (Race 1), just one GTV 2.0 (Andy Gill / Jim Utting) in the Swinging Sixties (race 3) and sadly no Alfas with us in the Future Classics:rolleyes:

If anyone is attending Cadwell on Sunday - come and say hello - I'm sharing car 35 (Porsche 944 Turbo) in Future Classics......and praying for (a) a dry day and (b) that I'll remember the Goose Neck this time - last year it came as a surprise virtually every lap!

Ummmm in class up against a sud, mini ogle, mg midget, a few lotus, Mini etc etc... over all racing 911's, Morgans, 3ltr Capri's, 2ltr Escort's and the occasional oddball .... DWK 3-6 (Auto Union 2stroke) at last meet, Mustang 5.9 ltr pop's in now and then to ummm race.... not forgeting the TR7\8 Squadren of v8 monsters.

Alfa's..... my Sprint, Giulia 2ltr x 2, Alfasud & Giulietta 2ltr.... we have yet to get all five on the grid this year but I'm sure that will come soon enough.

More can be seen on the SMRC Pages .... Pictures.

This should probably be a seperate thread on its own, I've had a couple of different in car cameras. The most important thing I always check is that it records in a usable file format (AVI). This makes it a lot easier to play and edit using windows rather than having to transfer from another format.

I've got a brand new one of these if someone wants it for £40, it produces a good video:
Riverstreams.co.uk - Unbeatable Low Discount Prices - Mark II Digital Blue Head Camera (30fps)

I'm putting a system together that show my speed and lap time on screen and indicates when I brake. The systems that you can buy cost so much.

Ah - yes, that's the one I bought...rats, I've wasted £8:lol: I'll be interested in your system if you fancy going into production;) - though I'm not sure that I want people knowing when I brake:cheese:. Seriously - with two of us sharing the car in each race, it would be of interest to compare where we differ - should help us both go quicker.....
