Re: v6 cambelt snap?!
The 2.5/3.0 V6 is much less susceptible to belt failure than the TS or GTA engines. Both the V6 I bought here 2nd hand were about 5-6 years old and 70,000kms without any belt change.
First thing I did was to get the belts etc changed. IMO I would get the belt, tensioners, water pump changed as soon as possible. Any problem with the water pump will lead to a belt change anyway and the V6 water pump is not the greatest for durability.
For the belt change are you paying a lot for parts too or majority is labour, in this country they take the engine out but labour costs are relatively cheap even from Alfa dealer........but still its definitely not cheap
