I had the alignment on my 05 147 about 4 months ago to fix a shuddering problem - had the front tyres replaced at the same time. It was done through my main dealer (but don't think they did it on-site)

Now the front tyres seem to be worn on the inside & there is a new different shudder from the front tyres.

I have heard that there is an alternative/unofficial alignment that can be used - can anyone recommend somewhere to get it done around Dublin?

If it makes a difference the car is a sportivo on 17"s - I believe that these variables can make a differnce as the sportivo is supposed to have a slightly lower & harder suspension.

Hi - could be bushes on upper or lower arms or even a balljoint that's past it's best. most of these will cause alignment problems that you can't fix by having the tracking done. In fact you'd need to correct any such problems BEFORE having the tracking adjusted. Mine had a judder at motorway speeds that turned out to be a worn balljoint on the upper left arm. The bushes were also shot so I fitted a new pair of arms with poly bushes and put them on the car and it's pretty smooth now.

The lower arms are about ready too and the left hand ARB droplink isn't too clever either. AND I think the rear trailing arm bushes need doing (definitely with polys). Think I may have a few busy weekends coming up!

If I don't do all of that before fitting new front tyres and getting the alignment done I'm wasting my time - the alignment is done with the car static and any wear in bushes / balljoints will throw it out as soon as the car moves forwards (or backwards but that's less relevant!)

HTH!

As above, check for any wear in the bushes & ball-joints and fix that first.

Then, set the front parallel (ie 0mm toe) and the rear to 3mm toe-in.

The factory setting has 2mm toe-out on the front, which will cause the poor inner edge wear.

be interested in hearing how you get on.

I've always had the front tyres wearing on inside moreso, now have symptoms of anti-roll bar / bushes / call joint.

Not in a position to check out what's wrong and making replacements myself - anyone know someone reliable and reasonable in Dublin - Dave McCann in Coolmine is just down the road, he just sell tyres and does alignments or has a full garage for car repairs also?

Does he specialise in Alfa's, as not familiar with any garage in coolmine except the Renault garage and Kwik Fit (used to be there anyway)?

He doesn't specialise in Alfas but has been recommended to me by a few Alfa owners. He may do garage work as well, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't go to anyone other than Gerry Campbell for my servicing.

Out that way (Coolmine etc), I would have thought that Tractamotors in Blanchardstown would do Alfa servicing (at dealer prices obviously)?

even with new wishbones & proper tracking the tyre can;t tend to wear on the inside due to the braking forces spreading the front mount points of the front sub-frame...& also the flex in the bushes
