I'm on the forum for quite some time now and i see time after time some things appearing that sound like Y-reg or T/S-reg. What is the meaning of those terms?
N1,
just like in Holland, license plates come with the car (and stay with the car wink ) in the UK..
so the Y,T,R or whatever letter gives you an indication of the year the car is registered
I've no idea. I feel like a middle-aged member of this forum as opposed to an older forum member. I have been told I will find out "when I come of age"....still waiting..

It used to be very easy.
Once a year (used to be August) a new letter would come out (in alphabetical order!)
So registration T123 ABC would be older than V123 ABC etc.
So people would say "it's a V reg" or "it's on a V plate". Because the letter came out in August, you could have a car registered in July that was one letter, and one a month later with another letter...
Then "they" realised they were running out of letters, so they devised a new scheme. This works on numbers and is launched twice a year - March and September. March number started at 01, September at 51. We are now at 03 and 53....
Right, here goes! My bid for the most dull AO post ever... this one is going to take some beating.
Please find below the definitive list of UK number plates... Enjoy wink

I think there was something informative in this thread, but I suddenly, with no warning, fell asleep about halfway down, so I guess I'll neve know for sure. wink
