Cheers for the suggestions so far, keep them coming.
I don't think I can get the whole day off, although I might be able to leave a bit early. But I don't want to leave early only to get caught in a massive rush hour traffic jam.
Scenic route is a reasonable idea - except this is the first leg of a 3000 mile 'scenic route'. I'm not sure how much scenic I can take!
