I remember watching one program that discussed how they measure temperature, there are 2 ways that are in common use

1. Using ground based thermometers
2. Using Satalites

The ground based thermometers used are only present in the western world (i.e. America + Europe) and are showing an increase in temperature, the Satalites by there nature measure the temperature across the whole globe and are actually showing a decrease in overall temperature (obviously some parts of the world are getting hotter and some are getting cooler) ...

so depending upon which side of the argument you are sitting you can quote statistics all day long proving your respective point ...
