Said bye bye to my (big) baby.
Well she's gone. Final thoughts on 18 months of 166 ownership.
Mainly only just got the thing handling right and was enjoying just bumbling along when not in the mood or just commuting as she no longer leaped across the road or shook either end over bumps.
When in the mood with the konis fitted I could really lean on her in bends, turn in late to get the rear loaded up and the front just turned in and gripped hard and let me slingshot out of the corner.
Loved that engine (but not feeding it). After I had started to consider swapping one day chased a bloody bora tdi up a long drag from a roundabout and couldn't reel him in under acceleration until on the level. That got me thinking (as J C said) about all those torques of a diesel. Loved the response and pull of the engine and although it dominated the car's personality it also compromised it / called for the uprated suspension.
So here's photos taken after it's last clean.
Quadcamboy? Has anyone seen 3 camshafts lying around anywhere?
