You don't have to take a px, just like I don't have to buy from you.
As for a BMW dealer not underwriting my car, I'm afraid you have been told a 'porky' there, the salesman DID NOT try to give or get a price for my px.
IMHO - As for residuals, Alfa have improved greatly on the new range 159/Brera, but they are still not up there with BMW.
The problems at the time were -
1. The salesman I was dealing with was unable to perform a very simple task, i.e. straight forward cost to change price. (That IS ALL I asked for).
2. The 'offered' items should not be hidden within the 'cost to change' price. I never asked for the 'offered' items and ONLY found out about them when I questioned the high price to change.
You are correct nothing was forced on me, lets get the price of the car out of the way and then discuss extras (I am trying to be constructive here as a buyer).
3. There is no two ways about it, I see it as very poor to be charging £100 for a warranty transfer on a car still under manufacturers warranty and worth £18K+ (I don't believe that I'm the only one on this forum that thinks that).
I have NEVER come across any other dealer that uses this strategy, my advice, add it onto the advertised price (I am trying to be constructive here as a buyer) it does smack of penny pinching by the dealer.
4. You are very wrong on this point - I was not looking to purchase a red Brera, that may be what I own now, I had every intention of doing a deal on the silver Brera, after all you are my most local dealer and I had purchased 2 cars before from Mangoletsi in the past.
I have had some very good and some not so good dealings in the past with your dealership but points 2 & 3 above are really what put me off buying a car from yourselves.
I can put a lot more as I mentioned in my email but suggest we speak, give me a call when you have time.
End

Hi,
I know I was not involved in the enquiry at the dealership, but I do stand proudly behind colleagues.
Thank you for your advice regarding selling pre owned Alfa Romeo vehicles ( your point 3 ). I explained it is the balance to change that matters, I'll explain again:-
By example, say our car is priced at £18,000 + £100 ( warranty tr.) which is £18,100, we choose to show it and account for it. If your px was worth £8000 then £10,100 is the balance to change.
So, for an identical car elsewhere priced at £18,000, if the balance to change is less than £10,100 then it is a better deal, simple.
We discuss these matters and have been doing for 40 years. If we can't better it then it doesn't mean we are doing anything wrong, we are at least being upfront about it.
And as regards to point 2, I am sorry you felt that offering you a chance to protect your car was so wrong.
And finally you stated in your email to me that we were clearly not interested in taking your part exchange, so why say otherwise on the forum ? You let everyone know you sent it and contradicted it from my response.
I can see no value in taking this further.
Please remember I am here as a member and happy to help but I see no fault, sorry.
I won't respond anymore to this.
