Do a few searches, its been discussed here at length many times before. The ECU isnt capable of making an adjustment to take advantage of an increase in RON.

Agree, the ECU will not advance the timing if you put 98RON. But it is perfectly capable to retard it. The use of 98RON will allow the ECU to correct the timing to a lesser extent and it will allow the engine to run at the nominal table values or close to them.
So you will indeed get a benefit by using 98RON.
