I got 27mpg average in my 3.0 V6 on the AO run to Penrith and back.. 30mpg from the half-tank I used driving from York to Ned's, 26mpg average on the tank back up to York, plus 70 miles of backroads testing out the diff.. You've got to remember with the 2.5 gearbox my does 3,000rpm at 70 in 6th as well, so isn't built for economical cruising..

Your fuel consumption is shocking, you must really rag it to get it so low!
