Hello Alfaowner.com
I purchased by 1991 Spider in Florida back in November - my first Alfa. I flew down, took the car for a couple of laps around the block, bought it and decided to drive it back to Denver.
Had high adventure driving an older, unfamiliar, Italian sports car through Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and finally, Colorado. The only mechanical problem I had was shaking the muffler loose on the rough road in Oklahoma.
The humorous part was, I drove through 8 states with no issues with the Law. Five minutes into my home state, I get stopped for having only one license plate hung on the rear - which belonged to one of my other cars. The young State Patrol officer had to call his supervisor as he didn't know how to deal with the situation. I ended up getting a ticket and fine for "Displaying ficticious plates"...
At any rate, I am obsessed with driving the Spider and I can't quite put my finger on what it is about it. My daily driver is an '04 Audi S4 (which ain't a bad ride). But as someone described it to me - it's the "elemental" nature of the car vs the highly engineered modern vehicle.
