Re: 156 V6 air con removal

GTA oil cooler set up pics and info

From my GTA conversion thread - Various posts from this thread:

Alfa Romeo forum: 2.5 to 3.2 GTA conversion

I had some issues last night with the oil cooler pipes. It seems the GTA manifold (euro 3 with cat) differs from the euro 2 manifolds I'm using. It fouled the oil cooler pipes at the outlet and the heat shield fouled the pipes further up.

The heat shield was easy to fix.

I hit it with a hammer. Hard. Several times. I am a pikey.

The pipes were a bit of a struggle. I spent 2 hours gently tweeking them trying to get them to work. I'd bend one section and another part would foul something else......

More pics (take last night)

I don't know why, but i've been desperate to get the oil cooler fitted in place. I think its because it marks the beggining of an end to the longest project I've ever done. The irony is after I finished takeing pics, I started re-fitting the aircon system and a bit of it fits where the scoop for the coole belongs. So I had to remove that lovely race car esq oil cooler intake in the pics. I was gutted. Think I'll cut a hole in it to fit around the air con bits.

After much agro We've finally got the pipes from the P/S pump and the oil cooler sorted out. I have serious concerns about access to the oil filter. I think the only way to remove it is out the top of the engine bay. I can get a hand on it - the oil breather from the rear bank is absent, aiding access, but I think i may need some additional room to get it out. Definately a bridge to cross when and only when I need to......... I think the basic problem over a GTA is down to me using euro 2 manifolds. More power definately but the manifold ends up in a different place, closer to the oil filter.

Option B= remove subframe to change oil filter. [] [LOL]

So gimmie more or nothin at all.
