Re: 156 V6 air con removal

Yeah, had to evacuate BMC when my air con pipe leaked in the JTD. They pressure (actually vacuum) tested it, and it was fine, they filled it up, fine, then when they switched it on it all hissed out and filled the workshop up

I guess it was a pin prick hole, and when they vacuum tested it, the pressure sucked it closed. But when it was at high pressure, it blew it all out.

My air con doesn't really work very well anyway, its cool rather than cold. Do you reckon it'd have much gas in it? Cause I could wrap my head in a wet towel, slash the pipe and run like phook, sort the rest out a few hours later..

I don't know what it is, when I'm driving at 70mph, the temp is just a needles width under 90. But driving at 40mph the temp settles on 90, and doing 20mph it ticks over 90. I'm guessing there just isn't enough airflow over the 2.5 radiator to cool a 3.0.. Its only been on 4 months or so! I reckon if there was no aircon radiator it'd help the cooling, save some weight, clear a bit of room under the bonnet, all in all a good thing
