Re: Where is EGR valve pipe in 147JTD 8v?

EGR exhaust gas recirculation...is a part of the emission control system that almost any modern car has. Messing with it means changing the emission levels of your car, which is illegal.

Yes, it is true that by closing the EGR valve you will achieve small gains in power...BUT in your car the EGR valve is almost completely closed after 3000rpm. Below 3000rpms there is a difference and it is better for the engine to have the EGR valve closed...because more "fresh" air is entering the engine.

The single advantage for the engine by having the EGR valve open is a slightly faster warm-up times in the mornings.

Regarding software closing of the EGR valve....well what should I say....I don't want to offend anyone but, there you get the difference between a good tuner and someone changing things without knowing what is what or just trying to copy someone else work. Ask him if he knows at what pressure levels is your pump working now after the remap....as he can very easily damage it. And it costs a lot...about a 1 000Euro.

In the second remap for my car from DigitalTuning the pump pressure levels were too high and yet the car was slower around the track compared to Celtictuning remap...the difference between a good tuner and an excellent tuner.

Ps: later on I will answer in the other thread...

Best Regards,

Petko
