Nitrox works by releasing more oxygen when it gets heated up (i.e. in the cylinders) so the engine will run weak and melt if you get the fuelling wrong. This is the most likely cause of death with Nitrox.

this is also why you are supplied with a 25hp jet to start with, you use this level to determine the required fuel/n2o mix, im using 2.5:1 and it works fantastically.

Fit new belts and tensioner... the old ones will get a shock .. and service the beast at half the normal intervals, especially oil and cam-belt tensioner. Fit plugs that are one grade cooler.

service it yes but i dont see why you would have to do it more regularly?! spark plugs, 1 grade cooler for every 50hp increment you run.

I'm not convinced about Nitrox though.. you have to prime it and you can only use the boost just while you're pushing a button. It's also pointless to use it on transient throttle opening (if you want to go quicker, just use more throttle).

that is so so wrong for a decent kit. go to wizards of nos, no need to 'prime' anything or purge anything, set up is at WOT not button that you press and you can set it up progressively too

So, it has (to me) a very limited usefulness. And unless the people you get the kit from know what they're doing, you WILL lunch your engine...

if you get a kit it MUST be a wizard of nos UK spec kit, nothing on the current market comes close to their quality. phone them and speak to Ant or Trev and they will put your mind at ease

If you want more shove, more of the time, use a X-charger..

and if you want a LOT more shove when you want it and a retention of your MPG go nitrous

Just to point out Ralf, im not having a dig at you, mearly putting across a different side of the argument from the point of view of someone who is running a wizard of nos kit at 50hp on their 1.8L motor and making over 220bhp

If you havent used nitrous before i understand you may be dubious, all these horror stories, there all common link, USA kits. they are simply poor quality. a good kit will give you so much enjoyment. i dont think i could have a car now without nitrous, it really is something else.
