Re: 1969 Fiat 500, under restoration!

Got this email from my wee bro....

Hi Jools

As you know the car made it home very well and it has to be said it performed very well considering it hasn't done any kind of distance for over 7 years and probably never done 300 miles in one go before either. We were both very comfortable cruising at 55-60 all the way, even passing some cars and lorries ourselves. The reaction on the motorway was fab...it's nice to be different.

The only trouble we had was that the clutch started to slip coming in from Hopwood services after a final refuel, mainly caused by traffic up our chuffs and me trying to pull away quick enough to not be rammed up the arse...its good to be home...(selfish bastards!) and a minor oil leak in the engine bay - well all over the engine bay. Neither of which will be a problem to sort.

We are both now members of 2 Fiat clubs so we will be very busy over the coming (beautifuly hot, so we can open the roof) summer. I'll send pics of these events too.

Love to all
Mark...a brave little yellow car named Pootle....and a very happy wife that now wants to sleep in the garage.

Ain't that the bizz
