There is the same kind of setups with the two sporty saxos, as I found out when tuning my VTS
The 8v VTR had the cat under the car in early models but when the model was updated and facelifted they moved the cat from under the car into the manifold itself which slightly lowered the power and meant if you wanted a 4-2-1 or 4-1 sports manifold you had to run without the cat which was fine for power increases but meant you had to replace the manifold for MoT time.
Lucky the 16v VTS had the cat under the car from start to finish so it wasn't a problem.
