Mal, just spoke to my mechanic. He doesnt think its anything major. Possibly loose bush or the cable that connects gearstick to gearbox.
In terms of the gears not feeling smooth, this might just be because the car is new to you and feels different to other cars. Are you saying the gear change feels rough? How long were you out in the car for? The gearbox oil needs to heat up before you get a nice smooth gearchange.
