You could argue that Alfa have subsidised the Q2 in that the parts only come to about £230 + labour. If you were to go buy anyone else's diff it would be at least 3 times that + labour.
Re Reliability - I've had a fair bit of bad luck with both my GTA's - so I'm sorry to say that I do believe they can be temperamental - however it looks to me that because mine have been low mileage cars, with a school run dealing with start - stop traffic, it's the one thing the GTA does not like.
I'm on my second GTA and cannot see myself wanting to part from it - unless a good opportunity came up to buy a brand new 156 GTA Sportwagon for the right price or if the 159 GTA comes out
