Dunno how relevant but my rover V8 engined TVR has had its pre-cats removed (one in each manifold) but kept the main cat and it still passed emissions OK at MOT. Emmisions testing is done when the engine is fully warm, pre-cats work when the engine is cold.
Lots of Griffs and Chimaera's have had this done.
