On same subject, in another thread, it has been mentioned that blipping the throttle may put the cam belt under undue load as the cams are accelerated, possibly contributing to early belt failure. Not convinced myself so merely reporting that it's been claimed.
Throttle blipping to synchronize rev's on down-changes, whether
achieved via well practiced heel & toe manual changes or the (very accurate) GTA selespeed system not only assists in setting the car up for balanced entry into corners etc, but substantially reduces the dynamic loads on all rotating components within the engine & gearbox.
(That's assuming that you don't simply apply the brakes and then decide which gear you need after the event)
