Re: Chipping a 1.9 GT

Economy all depends on how you drive it. Wouldn't think you cand get 6-8mpg, would think more like 1-3mpg more. I've seen an increase of 1-2mpg on my 147 JTD (same engine as yours). I lost a lot of economy in the first few days because I was driving around like a 17 year old in a Nova SRi but when I calmed down the economy shot back up.

Well worth the pennies, makes the diesels more driveable, takes out the turbo lag and it drives more like a petrol, the power comes in a lot smoother and keeps pulling up into the red line. Don't want to push it to find out if the limiter will stop it but it fells like it will pull forever. There's so much more power, so much more torque and it's all a lot more controlable and smooth.

A remap can be picked up if a garage was to poke about inside your ECU but they shouldn't need to as a matter of routine servicing and it's harder to detect than a plug-in chip. Also it's between you and your conscience whether you tell your insurance company

Cons are that it might shorten the life of your clutch with all the extra torque but if you use the revs and use the power to accelerate rather than being lazy and using the torque it shouldn't affect it much and could still last a good 100,000 miles if you're careful.

Alll in all, go for it. I love my map and would instantly remap another car as soon as I get it, well worth the pennies!
