As soon as that turbo spooled there was massive torque, but then a fair drop off after 3,000rpm. I'm sure a custom map would smooth that out, and probably fine tune it to maintain the torque better further up the rev range, for the transmission's sake alone.
Still, it had 122K under its belt when I sold it and I never had any transmission problems besides it eating its clutch.. I just hope the new owner isn't one of those guys that are happy to put their foot down in 5th at 1,900rpm and wait for the turbo to spool. With the brand new uprated clutch in I reckon the gearbox or a driveshaft will be the first to go driven like that..
