Yeah, don't just unplug the MAF, it needs to be totally removed. You could just attach the K&N straight onto the throttle body if the pipe is the right diameter. Basically as long as air is flowing through the K&N, into the engine, 10 mins of idling and some revving should do it, it'll definitely be free of excess oil then.
But while you're doing it, I think you should unplug the MAF from the wire it attaches to, otherwise the ECU will detect that there is a MAF present but no airflow over it, which might make the ECU go a bit loopy.
