Never had any problems with MAFs down to my BMC CDA on both V6 and JTD, although I did have a knackered MAF before I got the CDA fitted, which I suspected was caused by the previous owner fitting the wrong size filter, and also the screws holding down the airbox lid had stripped threads and pull out (due to the expansion of the over large filter that was jammed in there, presumably

)
I put a new MAF on and it's been fine with the CDA ever since, I cleaned it once and re-oiled following the procedure, upon re-fitting the CDA remove the MAF and allow the car to tick over for ten minutes, as well as giving it a few revs from idle to pull off (ooh er

) any excess oil..
I'd definitely recommend a BMC CDA when the time comes to replace the airbox itself, it is a really good induction solution, but is quite pricey..
