That goes for TS engines though. maybe the V6 MAF (similar sensor, bigger housing) has already lower airspeed in its housing (airspeed is reversely proportional to cross-section area) so there is some margin of increasing airspeed without the risk of frying the sensor wire.
Really? The only destruction of MAFs I know of associated with cone filters is when they have excess oil on them which then gets burnt onto the MAF.
I would imagine that the MAF's wire is made from something that doesn't react with oxygen regardless of temperature and flow rate.. I could be wrong though.
