The conrods were the start. I bought the car as a repariable writeoff. The damage was done as a result of fast, high rev thru a puddle and the water was ingested via the air intake at bumper level. this is not a one of type event either as other blogs on this site show. After the rebuild I put on a pod filter at engine top level and get terrific sound when hitting the load pedal. The new mini's have the same problem. I have posted a brief about this on another part of this site. I will provide a full story on the car engine rebirth on the aroca vic site in the future. My diff story started when the car was to be put thru a roadworthy and the rest is history. The gearbox was not touched the damage was low speed and instant. I only changed the oil twice as a precaution. The car has done over 1000kms and not missed a beat. If you get to Alfesta Qld over easter we may compare notes
