Re: fitting new rear discs
I have done my rear pads and discs 2 weeks ago. It was an quite easy job. I will try to explain in text form and hope it will help.
1/. open the brake fluid reservior cover. Put towel around it just in case of any spill.
2/. Ralease the handbrake.
3/. Undo two bolts of the rear caliper. One at the top and one at the bottm. You will need 2 spanners to undo the bolts.
4/. You can slowly slide the center part of the caliper out and take the old pads out.
5/. Push the piston back by turn it clockwise. You need a special tool that has two dipples to fit into the piston slot. I did it by using this tool and g-clamp with turning action.
6/. Replace the brake pads and remember to clean the area and apply copper grease around the new brake pad edge and in between the pistion.
7/. Undo the little 10mm bolt located near on the center part of the brake disc.
8/. Now you can remove the disc in an angle. You will slightly rub the caliper but it will come out.
9/. Put everthing back the same way.
I quite enjoy this job and I get the chance to clean up everything I want.
