if it's the battery, then a 'recharge' will only be a short term solution. cos the battery is most likely too old (and therefore lead plates too corroded) to hold charge properly.
so IF the battery's at fault, you should buy a new one.
Abyss - here in australia - had a fault with his midi fuse inside the fuse assembly atop the POS battery terminal. the navy blue one was at fault, presumably partially blown. replacing this fixed his electrical woes, BUT they were different to yours. he had repeated VDC/ABS errors. but something to consider.
