I reckon the 147 is way too small for a family with 3 kids, the boot is tiny. The 156 isn't very practical either in the boot side, bigger but akward shape, leg room isn't up to much either really. I agree the GT is the best compromise since it's a hatch with a big boot and is definately no worse in the back than the 147. If you can live with 3 doors it's the one to go for.
