Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

Hi Ned, What coefficient of friction are the pads you are recommending, and are they suitable for track use on type-R tyres, or just road use?

I haven't tried PerfFriction explicitly, but have gone through about 10 sets of various pads (ordered roughly by stopping power) including

Ferodo DS-3000 (competition pads, but streetable in moderation, last very well)
Ferodo DS-2500 (extremely streetable pads also suitable for racing, last very well + kind on discs)
Galfer Racing pad from Autodelta (strong braking but don't last for hard track use from very high speeds)
Ferod DS-Performance, (excellent uncompromised road pads, good for track too, last well, kind on discs)
OEM chocolate pads (Will last 2 hours on track, kind on discs (as you would expect of chocolate))

Looking at the Performance friction website it appears like it hasn't been updated for 4 years and doesn't have any technical info on the performance of its pads.

If the Perfromance friction "carbon ceramics" range are really used as OEM by Ford and GM (as their web page says) then its unlikely they would be better than many of the above, although no doubt better than oem Chocolate pads..
AFAICS DS3000 are used by WRC cars, so do stop the car pretty quickly!

Cheers,
TB

I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later
