The Granny is a tougher car, the police used them till ford stopped making them, only then going on to Omega's. A lot of Omega's have had problems with back axles too.
Having owned an old 2.0 Twin cam Granny before
(in gold...
) they are tough and bulletproof. Know someone that has one of these, they do handle ok in their own way (basically forgiving and give you loads of time to react) set it up for a corner and it will just barrel through. Also, .... no one expects them to be going over 50, the cossie version can really pick up and fly, so you will shock a few and reduce boy racers to sorry broken heaps.
All good then, buy it!!!!
