Jamie porter and team changed my belt and tensioner on the 1.8 twinny in my 156. However, Since I have had it back it makes a funny vibrating/rattle kinda noise when I start it. Idling after startup it goes away, but if I touch the accelerator a little it comes back around 2000 RPM.
Ive checked my oil level and it seems ok. I'm assuming it's the variator making a bit of noise until the oil gets up to the top of the engine?
Maybe it's time for an oil change? It's been about 8,000 miles...
It could be they didn't put something back properly. Things like the exhaust shield have a habit of vibrating at a certain engine speed.
And a few years ago, this happened to a mate ... the 13mm ring spanner he left under the bonnet didn't help!
OA, if you suspect the variator, remove the plastic engine cover, before start up, get your left 'Lug' over that area, top left hand corner, if an old hard of hearing 'geezer' such as myself can discern it, you should be able to also?
Not really, drop clangers, and make boo-boos all the time, just try to keep cheerful, if I get it way wrong.
